Vineyards in Valpolicella

IN THE HEART OF VALPOLICELLA

Our vineyards in Valpolicella

Our vineyards are located in San Pietro in Cariano, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico region.
Our vineyard is a balanced mix of vines of different ages and different layouts and implants: pergola, pergoletta veronese and guyot. They feed on a clay soil, a morainic deposit that ages back to the ancient glacier of Lake Garda and the Adige River flood plain.
The vines have a north-south orientation in order to take advantage of wind ventilation and thermal excursion, provided by the pre-alpine valleys surrounding the area.
The grape varieties, grown in proportion for the best Valpolicella blend, include the strong Corvinone, the harmonic Corvina, the perfumed Rondinella and other local varietals that allow us to best characterize our wines.

A UNIQUE LAND

The land of thousand cellars

The Valpolicella Classica area is at the heart of excellent of Italian wine production.
Stunning vineyards and historical wineries are everywhere.
Valpolicella has been the home of vineyards and grapes since the ancient Roman times. The ancient Romans called the lands Vallis-polis-cellae, valleys of the many wine-cellars; these lands gave birth to one of the most symbolic wines of the Italian tradition and one of the most loved red wines in the world: Amarone.

Soil
SOIL AND WEATHER

The soils of Valpolicella are generally morainic gravel and ancient flood plans, sun-exposed and well ventilated. The pH of the soil is sub-alkaline and alkaline; both total carbonates and active limestone are present in elevated quantities. The weather is generally tempered and Mediterranean with average precipitation and good ventilation that enhances the development of healthy grapes.

Vineyards
VINEYARDS

Our vineyards exist on an ancient clay-morainic deposit. The northern facing vineyards favor a frequent ventilation and allows better thermal excursion to support the growth of the grapes. The vineyards are different ages (some are newly planted and some are over 50 years old), they are planted in pergola, pergoletta veronese and guyot. The varieties that are cultivated are mainly Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and other local varietals.

Vinification
VINIFICATION

Our vinification process is traditional, it starts in the fields with the manual selection of the best grapes. Then pressing, vinification, and fermentation take place with the help of the lastest generation fermentation tanks provided with tight control of process parameters. For the wood aging we use French oak barrels of different sizes and peculiarities.

Wines
WINES

Our wines are pleasantly perfumed, silky, full bodied, a deep red color which becomes ruby red when aged. They are made to represent the richness and strength of this land and of the grapes that are typical of these areas. They are the perfect union of different typical grapes and a touch of innovation.

OUR WINES

The spirit of our land

They embody the spirit of this terroir but re-interpret it in a more current and modern key to offer everyone the pleasure of tasting a sip of Valpolicella.
